NOLA RESISTENCE

The NOLA RESISTANCE is a newly renamed band but these members have been performing for years together.  Dating back to early 2006 after Hurricane Katrina, Matthew M. Dillon started a band called Throwback to fill the void of hearing good live funk bands in the city of New Orleans.  The traditions of bands such as the Cool Enterprise, Louisiana Purchase, The Meter's and Chocolate Milk had receded dramatically over the past decade.  Not to mention national acts like Earth, Wind and Fire, The Ohio Players, Cameo, Lakeside and others, There were not many bands in New Orleans that were living up to the standards of these groups.

Years Later this group would perform under several different names like The NOLA Big Band, The NOLA All-Stars and the like and would feature very prominent New Orleans musicians from Dr. John, Cyril Neville and Deacon John to James Andrews, Rockin Doopsie and many others.  Performing primarily out of New Orleans concerts, the band became a big hit with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) and soon began performing regularly at their events.

Last Year, Business Manager for the IBEW and head of the Working Californians Non-Profit Brian D'arcy approached Dillon about recording the band and they determined the climate in the US could be addressed musically on a record with 1 word Resistance.  Resistance to apathy, stupidity, violence corruption and greed.  The NOLA RESISTANCE will issue their first record May 1st with the help of the Working Californians and is made up of cover songs and originals that speak to the issues mentioned above.

Performing on this record is a veritable all star lineup in New Orleans music.  Here is a list:
